Permanent Part Time 30.4 hours per week
Monday Friday 8:00am-2:30pm
Salary Band 3 - Starting at $32.78 per hour super

As the Cook at North Carlton Childrens Centres you will prepare nutritionally balanced meals which cater to the individual needs special dietary requirements and cultural practices for up to 60 children per day. You will know how food affects a child with anaphylaxis or allergy and you will have experience in cooking/catering and food handling. It would also be beneficial to have a current Food Safety Supervisors (Health and Community) Certificate.

We are also looking for someone who has a passion for innovation as we embark on a new project to review our menu and create new recipes which capture the voices of children and families and also incorporate indigenous/local ingredients. Training and mentoring opportunities are available for the successful candidate to increase their knowledge in consultation and indigenous ingredients.

Your work environment will be safe hygienic and comply with occupational health and safety standards. You will be working in a spacious high-quality commercial kitchen which is stocked with commercial cooking and cleaning appliances.

Your excellent planning and organising skills will enable you to prepare timely meals within budget and use seasonal fresh produce where possible. Your fantastic communication skills will enable you to work in partnership with the Centre leadership educators and families to produce the best quality outcomes for children.
