About the opportunity:

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Chaplain who is a trained specialist and has expertise in recognising and focusing on the spiritual and pastoral needs of others. Your role is to be the bridge between spiritual depth and the practicalities of providing holistic support to our diverse community and your duties are to:

  • Engage in nuanced one-on-one spiritual dialogues unlocking the unique journeys of those seeking solace.
  • Collaborate with local corps and mission expression personnel crafting faith pathways.
  • Execute Christian ceremonies and services choreographing moments of sacred significance aligned with The Salvation Armys traditions.
  • Navigate the spiritual landscape acknowledging diverse theological beliefs within both clients and staff.
  • Actively participate in staff and client case meetings infusing a holistic approach to pastoral care.
  • Illuminate The Salvation Armys theology mission and culture to foster a deeper understanding among staff and management.

This is permanent part-time position 2 days per week (days are flexible)

ABOUT YOU:

  • Diploma of Chaplaincy and training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) (or a willingness to complete these qualifications).
  • Relevant qualifications in theological studies (preferred).
  • Positive Lifestyle Program (PLP) Facilitator training (preferred).
  • Display an in-depth understanding of chaplaincy theology faith frameworks and applicable theoretical models.
  • Proficient in psychological and mental health first aid theories and practices.
  • Demonstrate a high level of spiritual maturity and the ability to guide faith communities effectively.
