About Westhaven & The Role

Westhaven is and will continue to be the provider of choice for disability support services and accommodation across regional NSW. We provide client-centric high quality programs and activities that provide whole of life support for people with disability enabling choice and control.

Westhaven is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to support and advocate for Children and Young People living with significant disability to live life the way they choose. As a Caseworker you will coordinate casework responsibilities for children and young people (CYP) within Westhaven specifically working as part of a Therapeutic Care Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a Therapeutic Care Team managing the casework cycle for children and young people in care.

  • Ensure Case Plans are developed reviewed and implemented within set timeframes.

  • Maintain regular contact with children and young people seek their views and opinions and monitor their wellbeing.

  • Ensure that data is collected and recorded in a timely way.

  • Ensure that Casework is conducted consistent with the requirements of the NSW Office of the Childrens Guardian (OCG).

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Psychology Social Work or a relevant Behavioural Science; or be of Indigenous decent and be willing to obtain qualifications.

  • Have knowledge and understanding of the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998 NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care and trauma informed practices.

  • Understand the supports and issues of children and young people living with significant disabilities.

  • Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities families and children specifically in relation to the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC.

  • A current NSW Drivers licence.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC).
