Job Description
Position Summary
Reporting to the Registrar the Temporary Assistant Registrar coordinates the frontline and day-to-day operations of a service-oriented administrative office supporting a dynamic academic program. The position is slated for a period to conclude in September 2026 to cover daily operations while the Registrar and Senior Associate Registrar are involved in the Student Information System Enhancement Project.
This is a full-time benefit eligible position with an end date of September 30 2026.
Responsibilities
Assist the Registrar in coordinating the maintenance and security of student academic records registration procedures production of transcripts summer transfer and exploring transfer transcript evaluation.
Assist with the development and publication of the schedule of classes classroom assignments and examinations within terms set by faculty legislation.
Assist with all Registrar managed commencement preparation.
Supervise the work of three Registration Assistants and coordinate the office calendars.
Monitor and respond to the main Vassar Registrar email address. Process new status changes and forward information to appropriate individuals inside and outside of office.
Primary enrollment reporter to the National Student Clearinghouse and will assist Academic Data Manager with incoming data requests including but not limited Solomon Amendment requests.
Primary purchaser for Registrar office; including all incoming statements.
Required knowledge skills and abilities
Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of experience training and/or education.
A minimum of one to three years of appropriate experience in a college or university setting.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Knowledge of Banner or comparable complex administrative databases is desired as is proficiency with MS Word and Excel and familiarity with content management tools.
Experience in academic records management curriculum administration and student services is highly desirable as is knowledge of FERPA and other relevant federal and state policies and requirements.

Compensation
The starting annual base salary range for this position is $62600-$70000 (USD)
