The Role

We are seeking a passionate knowledgeable and experienced Biology Teacher to join our dynamic Science Department. The ideal candidate will ignite curiosity about the natural world cultivate critical thinking skills and guide students in connecting biological concepts to real-world challenges. You will play a key role in preparing learners for academic success and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the life sciences.

The School

The school founded in 2016 is a K-12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology cultural heritage and modern beauty with 140000 square meters of green space.

The school curriculum is organized into the Elementary School grades K-5 the Middle School grades 6-8 and High School grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nine-year compulsory education program the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and western education.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

• Deliver engaging and high-quality Biology lessons to students
• Create lesson plans and learning materials that align with the schools curriculum and learning objectives.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Foster critical thinking and inquiry-based learning through hands-on experiments discussions and research projects.
• Incorporate the use of technology and multimedia tools to enhance learning experiences.

Curriculum Development:

• Develop and refine the Biology curriculum to ensure it remains current relevant and aligned with international standards.
• Integrate interdisciplinary themes and connections with other subjects.
• Support students in preparing for external assessments exams and university applications.

Student Assessment and Support:

• Regularly assess student progress through assignments quizzes tests and projects.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and parents emphasizing areas of improvement and achievement.
• Identify and support students who may require additional help or enrichment opportunities.

Co-Curricular Activities:

• Organize and participate in extracurricular science-related activities such as science clubs field trips and competitions.
• Promote a love for biological sciences through involvement in schoolwide projects and initiatives.

Professional Collaboration:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science Department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
• Participate in departmental meetings curriculum planning and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the schools community by supporting events assemblies and other initiatives.

Classroom and Laboratory Management:

• Maintain a safe organized and stimulating classroom and laboratory environment.
• Ensure all experiments and practical activities adhere to safety standards and guidelines.
• Manage resources including equipment and materials efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• A degree in Science/Biology or a related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE QTS State License National qualification or equivalent). Not TEFL/TESOL
• Proven experience teaching Biology in a school setting
• Strong subject knowledge and passion for Biology and scientific inquiry.

Desirable:

• Experience teaching at an international school.
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary and inquiry-based approaches to learning.
• A proven record of preparing students for external assessments and university applications.

Remuneration & Benefits

The salary and benefits package provided is highly competitive depending on the
qualifications and experiences of the successful candidate.
- Competitive base yearly salary and promotion system $53K -$65K plus bonus plus pension per year
