Description

HonCasey Costello Minister of Customs Minister for Seniors and Associate Minister for Health Immigration and Police is seeking a motivated and engaging Private Secretary to join her office as a Private Secretary (Advisory/Media). Working in the heart of the government you will join a tight knit and trusted team who support the Minister as part of the 54th Parliament.

As the Private Secretary (Advisory/Media) you will work alongside the Advisor and Press Secretary to provide the Minister with political oversight on policy develop press releases and ensure her priorities align with the Governments political agenda.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing OIA requests and identifying any potential political risks that may arise.
  • Developing compelling stories and messaging that convey the Ministers priorities to the public.
  • Preparing the Minister for oral questions in liaison with other political staff and Portfolio Private Secretaries.
  • Engaging with Coalition partners and government agencies to further the Ministers political agenda.

This is an events-based position based on a 3-year parliamentary term. The salary band for this role is$99025- $110027per annum with starting salaries reflecting relevant skills and experience.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in this role you will need a strong understanding of the ministerial environment the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders through various channels and:

  • An interest in the Ministers portfolios.
  • The ability to work and solve problems at pace with a high level of resilience.
  • A proven track record in delivering advisory media or communication services.
  • A highly tuned political radar and a sound understanding of the Governments political agenda.
