Job Description

What Youll Do:
The Ohio Industrial Commission (OIC) is seeking an experienced Electronic Design Specialist with considerable knowledge of computer-generated graphic design software visual communication services website/web page designs and a complete understanding of concept to production in design.
Under general supervision of the Chief Communications Officer
- Creates designs & updates Ohio Industrial Commission Web site & publications (e.g. brochures newsletters newspaper clips/ reprints etc.) & audio & visual productions/presentations using IBM compatible computer system accessories &programs (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud Microsoft Office 365 etc.).
- Works on creative design/development of & subsequent maintenance of Industrial Commission Internet & Intranet.
- Produces finished art from rough draft design using various art media.
- Prepares finished layouts in either camera-ready or computer file format prior to printing.
- Consults with representatives from other departments special committees printers and/or supervisors concerning requested graphic design and website/Intranet and Internet projects.
- Researches subject matter to be depicted & produces preliminary sketches for approval by supervisor.
- Prepares finished design from preliminary sketches.
- Proofs designed material recognizes errors & makes corrections as needed.
- Maintains inventory of art production materials & helps prepare budget/cost analysis reports.
- Facilitates & assists with technology presentations (e.g. Town Meetings) as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required (e.g. submits status reports as required by supervisor). See the attached position description for more details regarding this position.
36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. electronic graphic design; 12 mos. exp. with hyper-text markup language for website/web page design &/or development.
-Or completion of associate core program in graphic visual communication technology or multimedia production technology; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. website/web page creation design &/or development.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in visual communications with emphasis on graphic design/industrial design &/or fine arts; 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. website/web page creation design &./or development.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

This position is filled through an assessment consisting of a structured interview. The interview will be administered in person at the William Green Building in Columbus Ohio.
The hourly wage for this position is not negotiable. For applicants who are not current State of Ohio employees the starting wage will be the hourly rate listed on this posting. Successful employees will move up a step in the salary range within one year and in most cases within four to six months with subsequent step increases occurring annually.
For internal applicants the position will be filled pursuant to legislation or the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
