Summary
We are seeking a senior leader to serve as Deputy Director of Operational Programs and Design responsible for guiding the planning development and execution of programs that improve the safety efficiency and user experience of transit-related facilities. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that infrastructure and facility designs align with operational priorities accessibility requirements and long-term service objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement both short- and long-term strategies for facilities and infrastructure programs.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to teams of architects engineers and program managers; oversee staffing training and professional development.
- Direct the planning design and delivery of projects for stations maintenance shops and administrative facilities.
- Lead the rollout of operations and maintenance initiatives that improve safety reliability and system efficiency.
- Introduce and manage technologies such as CMMS or BIM to enhance project tracking reporting and oversight.
- Establish and maintain design standards specifications and technical criteria to ensure consistency compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee budgets capital plans and grant applications; monitor forecasts expenditures and financial reporting.
- Serve as the operational liaison between facilities programs and other internal departments to ensure alignment of goals.
- Conduct site assessments monitor active projects and provide solutions for emerging infrastructure challenges.
- Ensure all projects comply with building codes accessibility requirements environmental regulations and quality assurance standards.
- Represent the organization in reports presentations and stakeholder communications.
- Promote a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelors degree in architecture Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
- At least five years of progressive experience in infrastructure design and construction management.
- At least two years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Proven experience overseeing large-scale transit transportation or public infrastructure programs.
- Strong understanding of design standards project finance and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends to support project and operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master s degree in a related field.
- Eight or more years of experience in infrastructure design and construction management.
- Three or more years in a leadership role.
- Professional certifications such as PE RA or PMP.
- Familiarity with FTA regulations funding processes and capital planning.
- Experience incorporating equity accessibility and climate resilience into infrastructure design.
- Knowledge of tools such as AutoCAD Revit Primavera P6 or similar project management systems.
