Overview:

DataProphet is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities managing the full sales cycle and converting prospects into long-term customers. Youll work closely with Marketing and Customer Success to deliver an outstanding experience and hit ambitious sales targets.

Role Overview

As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for identifying new opportunities nurturing leads and driving the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing. This role requires a mix of commercial drive technical fluency and the ability to build trust with manufacturing clients at all levels from plant engineers to executives.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Growth Engineering and Product to communicate value shape our go-to-market strategy and expand our presence across the South African manufacturing sector.



Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify engage and qualify new business opportunities within manufacturing and adjacent verticals.
  • Manage a full-cycle SaaS sales process: outbound prospecting discovery product demos proposal development negotiation and closing.
  • Articulate the value of DataProphets AI suite to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with presales and technical teams to assess customer readiness define project scope and tailor presentations.
  • Collaborate with DataProphets go-to-market strategic partners to develop customised solutions within targeted verticals.
  • Network effectively both locally and internationally to develop and expand the sales pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline tracking forecasting and reporting in CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot).
  • Stay informed on market trends competitor activity and AI innovations relevant to manufacturing.
  • Develop strong relationships with prospective and existing customers to ensure satisfaction and expansion opportunities.



What Youll Need to Succeed

  • 35 years of experience in B2B SaaS sales ideally in industrial software automation or digital transformation.
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in complex consultative selling environments.
  • A keen interest in advanced manufacturing and a passion for delivering customer value through innovative technology.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand data-driven solutions (experience with AI/ML is a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a sales pipeline and prioritize effectively in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with concepts such as Industry 4.0 or smart manufacturing is advantageous.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Engineering Supply Chain Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience selling to discrete/process manufacturing industries (automotive rubber semiconductors etc.)
  • Exposure to CRM platforms and SaaS sales tools.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed.
