The Water Groups Local Water Utilities (LWU) Policy and Pricing Team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Policy Officer to provide support for fit-for-purpose policy and regulatory that help ensure safe secure efficient and sustainable water supply and sewerage services throughout regional NSW.
This could be an excellent development opportunity to broaden your policy design skills and exposure to a wide range of stakeholders.
The Senior Policy Officer manages aspects of the development implementation evaluation and review of water policy and regulation for urban areas of NSW to meet planning policy and regulatory objectives. The role also contributes to strategies to guide Government decision making by collaborating with water utilities and government agencies to provide expert advice to Manager and the Director.
Specifically you will be involved in the next steps of the implementation review of the Regulatory and Assurance Framework for local water addition you will provide support regarding LWU regulation pricing and operational policy (as required) water management policy pertaining to the local water utility and work in partnership with regulated entities and stakeholders in order to achieve great outcomes for the community.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of the processes of government legislation and policy development preferably in relation to one or more of the areas of urban water management natural resource management water utilities or water planning.
You will have experience in dealing with a diverse range of planning and policy issues in order to recommend practical solutions often within limited timeframes with rapidly changing priorities conflicting perspectives and strict timeframes.
You will be a critical thinker and problem solver with attention to detail and experience working collaboratively with stakeholders representing the Department and exercising critical judgement when dealing with internal and external to government stakeholders on a range of water planning issues or natural resource management issues.
