Job Description

DEFINITION OF POSITION: The Speech Language Pathologist provides diagnostic therapeutic consultative and supervisory services for students with special needs in the area of communication.

SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent or Assistant Director of Special Services

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Washington State Education Staff Associate Certificate with an endorsement in Speech Language Pathology
  • Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Possess a current valid drivers license and provide own transportation

PREFERRED QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion and maintenance of Certificate of Clinical Competence Speech Language Pathology (CCCs in SLP)

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Serve as a team leader for students with Communication Disorders as the primary focus of concern/disability
  • Screen and identify students with suspected communication disorders
  • Complete diagnostic assessments
  • Provide diagnosis of communication disorders
  • Design and implement efficient and effective specially designed instruction (articulation expressive and receptive language fluency voice etc.) for students within a public school setting including preschool
  • Be knowledgeable of understand and comply with regulations for special needs students
  • Experience writing Individualized Education programs (IEP) including working knowledge of social and behavioral language goals specific task analysis skills and ability to write measurable annual goals and objectives
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team collaborating and consulting with team family members and agencies as needed
  • Maintain a system of record keeping for monitoring student progress and reporting
  • Be proficient in the use of IEP Online web-based program for students IEP records
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff parents community members other agencies etc.)
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with minimal supervision and travel between buildings

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

  • Salary: $26775 - $50466 placement based on experience level of education and actual FTE
  • Length of Contract: .8 FTE leave replacement position beginning January 5 2026 through June 12 2026
  • Leaves/Benefits: Medical dental vision life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Additional benefits may include sick/emergency leave and personal leave as per the collective bargaining agreement between the PullmanEducation Association (PEA) and the Pullman School District(PEA Bargaining Agreement).
