Summary Statement
Essential Functions
- Plans develops and administers a correctional arts program in which inmates confined to correctional institutions/facilities produce arts and crafts in a self-development effort.
- Purchases and/or procures operating supplies and equipment from a variety of sources to include donations or sale proceeds from community civic groups or private sector.
- Applies for and processes grant requests and prepares the annual operating budget.
- Accounts for all program materials and equipment maintains inventory and ensures that adequate supplies are on hand to meet program demands.
- Provides information concerning the program to community and other interested groups.
- Coordinates a marketing system for inmate products.
- Prepares a variety of records reports and summaries relative to the program.
- Recruits and supervises volunteers and inmate workers and contracts with outside appraisers and art brokers.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Correctional Arts Program Coordinator
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Six months experience in planning teaching and implementing an arts program.
- Six months experience in analyzing and evaluating data.
- Knowledge of budget development which includes analyzing financial data and making long and short range plans and projections.
- Knowledge of grant writing.
