Job Description

As a Senior Secondary Systems Design Officer you will undertake a variety of works associated with the construction and maintenance of Evoenergys Electrical Network. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of maintaining a future focused electricity network for the ACT.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop secondary systems designs for distribution substation protection SCADA and communications upgrade and replacement projects
  • Develop secondary systems designs for customer embedded generation projects
  • Liaise with other Evoenergy functional areas and external stakeholders as required in order to optimise network performance and respond to technical matters and provide technical advice and support where required
  • Keep abreast of developments in best practice substation and secondary systems design such as IEC 61850 to ensure that Evoenergys projects are developed in line with industry standards
  • Review concept and detailed designs produced by contractors and major projects.
  • Other duties within the employees skill competence and training

Our ideal candidate:

  • You take active steps to ensure the safety of your colleagues and our community championing a safe inclusive and respectful environment
  • Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (essential) or Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in design for complex electricity distribution projects focused on zone and distribution substation secondary systems
  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD for preparation of electrical design drawings
  • Background and understanding of protection SCADA and communications systems (highly regarded
  • Understanding of the functions of zone substation primary equipment and the maintenance and testing principles of protection SCADA and communications systems (desirable).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment relating to the electricity distribution industry particularly in regard to customer & network-initiated electricity network infrastructure works
