Roles and Responsibilities of a Dispatcher for Fiber Drop Installation and Maintenance:
1. Scheduling and Coordination
- Plan and schedule daily work assignments for installation and maintenance crews.
- Coordinate with clients field technicians and other departments to ensure timely execution of tasks.
- Allocate resources efficiently based on project priorities and technician availability.
2. Work Order Management
- Receive review and prioritize work orders related to fiber drop installation and maintenance.
- Ensure all necessary documentation and details are accurate before dispatching technicians.
3. Communication and Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact between field teams and management.
- Provide clear instructions and updates to technicians in the field.
- Relay customer requests feedback and issues to the relevant departments.
4. Monitoring and Tracking
- Monitor the progress of ongoing jobs to ensure deadlines are met.
- Track technician locations and work status using GPS or other tracking tools.
- Update job statuses and communicate any delays or issues promptly.
5. Problem-Solving
- Address scheduling conflicts or urgent requests by adjusting plans as needed.
- Coordinate emergency repairs or troubleshooting efforts promptly.
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of work orders job completion and technician activities.
- Prepare reports on daily operations productivity and issues for management review.
7. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure technicians follow safety protocols during installation and maintenance.
- Report safety concerns or incidents immediately.
8. Inventory and Equipment Management
- Coordinate with inventory teams to ensure technicians have necessary tools and materials.
- Track and manage equipment and supplies used in fiber drop operations.
Qualifications :
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in scheduling coordination or dispatching.
- Prior experience in the telecommunications or fiber installation/maintenance industry is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in scheduling and work order management tools.
- Working knowledge of fiber installation and maintenance processes.
- Ability to monitor field operations using GPS or tracking systems.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coordination across teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to handle multiple priorities and adapt quickly to urgent requests.
