Licensure Specialist/Employee Support - Human Resources

Job Description
Under limited supervision the licensure specialist reviews educator credentials processes applications for licensure onboards new employees creates reports interprets State Board of Education policies and serves as the primary contact to provide consultation regarding licensure requirements and hiring protocols. A licensure specialist must accurately evaluate transcripts and employee experience to determine licensure eligibility update licensure records and ensure compliance with state regulations for teachers and other personnel.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage vacancy postings and notifications.
- Process applications/resumes for onboarding new hires.
- Collect and maintain employee health files and employee personnel records including screenings verifications documents communications etc.
- Create and maintain up-to-date records and reports.
- Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; and to utilize decimals and percentages.
- Review and process applications for initial provisional and continuing licenses including requests for conversions and renewals.
- Analyze official transcripts work experience documentation test scores and out-of-state licenses to determine eligibility for North Carolina licensure.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of North Carolinas licensure policies including the Residency program testing requirements and renewal procedures.
- Advise and consult with educators school administrators and the general public on licensure requirements and processes.
- Accurately maintain and update employee personnel folders licensure records and systems.
- Licensed notary public
- Administrative and clerical duties such as answering phones greeting visitors managing correspondence scheduling meetings managing calendars coordinating events ordering supplies creating purchase orders providing collegial support etc.
- Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
- Other tasks and duties assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge Skills and Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and communication skills in order to listen actively and speak clearly to ensure all needs are met.
- Ability to be calm during emergencies or when redirecting a frustrated person.
- Strong knowledge of using correct grammar vocabulary and punctuation.
- Ability to promote positive relationships internally and with the public.
- Ability to multitask meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
- High accuracy and attention to detail are crucial for processing applications and managing records and reports.
- The ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in performing duties and resolving issues.
- A deep understanding of the North Carolina State Board of Educations teacher licensure policies and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex documentation and determine the appropriate licensure path for individuals.
- Proficiency in using copiers computers word processing spreadsheets and databases.
- Knowledge of utilizing Google suite applications.
- Reliability and good time management.
Minimum Training
Associates degree preferred with 3-5 years of clerical or office support experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
