With 40 private rooms and 61000 square feet of advanced rehabilitation space the new Northeast Georgia Rehabilitation Institute nearly doubles the capacity of the current inpatient rehabilitation unit at NGMC Gainesville. Our specialized facility includes a dedicated wing for stroke and brain injury patients a state-of-the-art therapy gym private treatment rooms a therapy apartment and innovative rehabilitation equipment to support patient recovery.
At Northeast Georgia Rehabilitation Institute managed by Lifepoint Rehabilitation we provide intensive nursing physical occupational and speech therapy services for adults recovering from stroke neurological disease brain or spinal cord injuries and other complex conditions. We are seeking a dynamic Educator and Infection Preventionist to join our team and play a vital role in staff development and patient safety.
Job SummaryThe Educator and Infection Preventionist is a dual-role position that combines the leadership of staff education and clinical orientation with responsibility for hospital-wide infection prevention and control initiatives. This individual will design and implement educational programs ensure competency-based orientation for new employees and serve as the facilitys content expert on infection prevention surveillance and regulatory compliance.
By blending education and infection prevention this position supports our mission to deliver safe high-quality patient-centered rehabilitation care.
Essential Functions Education ResponsibilitiesPlan design implement and evaluate hospital-wide educational programs and staff orientation.
Use adult learning principles to create engaging content tailored to staff roles and competency needs.
Provide individualized orientation plans for new employees and ensure effective preceptor matching.
Partner with leadership to promote accountability for learning quality outcomes and professional growth.
Serve as a clinical education resource and mentor to staff across all shifts.
Coordinate CPR/BLS training and ensure certification compliance.
Monitor quality improvement data to identify training needs and adjust education programs accordingly.
Lead the development implementation and evaluation of the hospital-wide Infection Control Plan.
Monitor analyze and report infection surveillance data to leadership committees and regulatory agencies.
Identify potential sources of infection and implement strategies to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
Provide education to staff regarding infection prevention practices isolation procedures and outbreak management.
Collaborate with physicians nurses and hospital departments to ensure compliance with federal state and accreditation standards.
Serve as the subject matter expert on infection prevention supporting hospital readiness and quality outcomes.
Graduation from an accredited Nursing program (BSN or MSN strongly preferred).
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Minimum 2 years of clinical bedside RN experience required.
Demonstrated experience in planning coordinating and evaluating clinical education programs.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain.
CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate mentor and influence others.
Experience with data analysis quality improvement and regulatory compliance in healthcare.
