Krero m te tranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Group Finance Managerto join the Finance team in a permanent full-time contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and support to a specialist team which delivers its services to customers across the group utilising an efficient shared services model.
  • Lead the implementation of and ongoing compliance with relevant NZ accounting standards across the University group (e.g. IPSAS).
  • Ensure that the Universitys accounting control systems financial reporting and tax compliance processes operate to best in class standards appropriate for an organisation of this scale and complexity. The role also requires an understanding of the importance of keeping key stakeholders including Te Hiwa Council and its sub-committees well informed on these matters when necessary.
  • Manage the Groups interim and annual external audit process. Liaise with the auditors and act as a central contact for audit queries and the flow of information between the auditors and University staff ensuring robust financial control mechanisms are in place to deliver an effective year end process.

You will be a strategic relationship-focused finance leader with a strong background in financial control. Youll bring a collaborative mindset excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across a complex organisation.

Key requirements:

  • Appropriate Tertiary qualification and membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia - New Zealand (or equivalent professional accounting body) or similar.
  • Proven level of deep financial acumen and experience in financialaccounting.
  • Experience in Treasury management or support.
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in large and complex organisations includingstrongpersuadingand influencing skills andexperience.
  • Proven ability to communicate verbally and in high quality written form at the Chief Executive and Governance level and to non-financial oriented audiences.
  • Ademonstratedabilitytodesignimplementandmanagefinancialprocessespolicies andprocedures.
  • HighlyexperiencedinproducinghighqualitydocumentsandreportsinMicrosoftWord Excel andPowerPoint.
  • Experience with large financialsystems.
