Summary

Join our team at Providence Health Care and help deliver compassionate innovative mental health care to adults across British Columbia. We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to provide advanced therapeutic services coordinate care and contribute to education and research initiatives in a supportive interdisciplinary environment within the Brief Intervention Clinic - Outpatient Mental Health program at SPH.

  • Promote a safe respectful and civil working environment within a patient client and family-centred model of care
  • Provide advanced therapeutic clinical services to adults receiving mental health treatment
  • Conduct complex assessments individual and group therapy
  • Coordinate care and treatment for a designated caseload
  • Liaise with professionals and teams across British Columbia
  • Lead education research and program development initiatives
  • Provide consultation on legislative and ethical issues
  • Foster a positive culturally responsive treatment environment
  • Provide leadership in dialectical and cognitive behaviour therapies
  • Teach interdisciplinary trainees from various disciplines

This role requires a Masters in Social Work post-masters training in DBT or CBT at least four years of experience delivering these therapies and full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. What You Bring

Education:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work
  • Completion of post-masters training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience providing DBT or CBT in a mental health setting or equivalent combination of education training and experience
  • Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of mental health and substance use issues evidence-based practices and psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Skilled in DBT CBT Solution-Focused Therapy Brief Intervention Crisis Intervention and motivational interviewing.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator with clients families teams and community partners.
  • Proficient in psychosocial assessments planning and implementing interventions across individual couple family and group settings.
  • Knowledgeable about community resources and inter-professional scopes of practice.
  • Committed to cultural safety humility and equity.
  • Organized adaptable and skilled in navigating complex environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and ability to educate consult and lead presentations.
  • Proficient in computers and related applications.
  • Physically able to perform duties of the role.

Your Day to day

  • Evaluates develops and implements treatment practices and protocols to promote excellence in social work and mental health care.
  • Participates in complex discharge planning and coordinates follow-up with team members and community partners.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with community mental health providers and agencies.
  • Provides advanced therapeutic counseling and facilitates psycho-educational groups.
  • Conducts psychosocial assessments formulates care plans and maintains client records.
  • Offers consultation and leadership in program planning research and best practices.
  • Advocates for clients and families assists with referrals and provides education and supervision.
  • Participates in committee work and performs related administrative duties
