Our Facilities Architecture and Engineering team in the Asset Management and Maintenance (AMM) division is looking for an Assurance Specialist Architecture to join the team. The successful candidate will provide compliance assurance of applicable technical standards and specifications related to stations and facilities assets to meet the corporate mandate and business objectives and ensure safe and reliable asset operations.
What will I be doing
- Provide architectural technical expertise for the Facilities Architecture Team and lead assigned projects ensuring stations and facilities assets are safe and fit for purpose.
- Act as subject matter expert assuring projects are in accordance with applicable Metrolinx standards and industry practices
- Conduct comprehensive and integrated design review of documents drawings and specifications leveraging architectural technical expertise to optimize designs for customer experience operational efficiency and long-term asset performance. Assess design details in the context of the entire asset lifecycle and provide comments that support station operations excellence and Metrolinx standards.
- Identify potential risks related to the design and construction phases and proactively follow up to ensure risks are addressed
- Responsible for providing recommendations as a result of risk-based and technical decision making to support agency governance processes particularly in relation to standards and the advancement of projects through key milestones.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Asset Management & Maintenance (AM&M) Team Members and other Metrolinx stakeholders.
- Support the Manager and Senior Manager in strategic initiatives including standardized processes guidelines and methodologies.
- Support the development and updating of design standards and acceptance criteria for stations and facilities assets within the architecture and landscape elements.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a university degree in Architecture Landscape Architecture Urban Planning or related field or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Registered as an OAA (Ontario Association of Architects) in the Province of Ontario is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in design construction and/or rehabilitation of facilities preferably for the movement of people through complex structures or urban areas.
- A valid Ontario Class G drivers license in good standing to attend sites including construction sites across the GTHA.
- Strong problem solving analytical interpersonal and negotiation skills and knowledge of project management principles to support the delivery of concurrent activities.
- Knowledge of landscape design especially including plant materials and/or pedestrian flow modelling to engage with reports and deliverables is an asset.
- Advanced understanding of building envelope systems and knowledge of operations maintenance and construction management standards and practices.
- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to facility assets such as the Ontario Building Code.
- Effective written and oral communication skills such as fluency in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to use Microsoft Power Point.
