General Summary of Position:

This position manages chemical engineering labs equipment and facilities including testing training programming installing operating maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment for teaching research and other academic activities. The position creates and implements a preventative maintenance schedule and performs routine maintenance calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
Additionally the position is responsible for instructional support including but not limited to stocking and maintaining laboratory supplies for courses collaborating with faculty to set up labs for each course section overseeing students assigned to the lab and providing training or instructions to students as needed. At the discretion of the Chair and department instructors the incumbent may assist with teaching and supervising laboratory courses. This responsibility may involve working closely with faculty teaching assistants learning fellows and students.
The position is also responsible for budgeting purchasing acquiring supplies and inventory and overseeing the procurement of materials with vendors. The role also involves supporting student clubs in regional and national competitions (e.g. AIChEs Chem-E-Car) and ensuring that students instructors and other personnel have completed all required environmental and health safety training for activities in the labs.
