Provide support to the Senior Group Product Risk Director as part of the Product & Insurance Risk Team. The role supports the Senior Group Product Risk Director to holistically review local business units (LBU) proposals for new products and alterations to existing products with the ultimate objective of supporting the Group Product Approval Committee Members in their product approval and broader product governance responsibilities. The product review function encompasses all aspects of insurance products including technical actuarial aspects and wider insurance risk like distribution customer conduct and regulatory risk The role also supports the LBUs by engaging and proactively guiding their product proposals through the approval process (early identifying and resolving potential issues). The role also supports the implementation and enhancement of the product approval governance framework monitoring of LBU product risks and other project-based activities within the Group Risk function.

  • Coordinate and contribute to holistic review of LBU product proposals encompassing (but not limited to) product features assumptions financial profile conduct operational considerations risk exposure / appetite capital implications and other considerations culminating in a Review Note with recommendations to the Group Product Approval Committee Members to enable their decisions.
  • Liaise and influence key GHO and LBU stakeholders if product design or other changes are needed to achieve an acceptable risk and return trade-off.
  • Contribute to the development implementation regular review and enhancement of both the Group and LBUs product governance processes and frameworks.
  • Provide product development & governance training to LBUs to improve their risk awareness ensure their compliance of the Group Risk Policies and Standards as well as product governance and to elevate the quality and standard of their submissions.
  • Support thematic product risk deep dives.
  • Build productive working relationships with GHO and LBU Product Finance Actuarial Operations Distribution Risk and other functions.
  • Ad hoc support in reviewing Group Capital and Asset Liability Management Committee papers covering solvency and Par management topics.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Actuary or equivalent.
  • Qualified Actuary with 10 years of working experience in either a Group/Regional Office or a business unit.
  • Strong holistic product development and governance experience is essential.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Good verbal & written communication influencing and senior stakeholder management skills.
  • Good team player able to work with and coordinate a number of stakeholders.
  • Some travel in the region will be required
