Job Summary:
The Processing Plant Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of seafood processing operations. The role will focus on optimizing plant performance ensuring strict adherence to food safety and international quality standards managing workforce productivity and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in seafood processing with strong leadership and strategic thinking skills to support Marina Seafoods growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
- Oversee daily plant operations including production scheduling workflow management and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor production metrics and introduce process improvements to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of all processing equipment.
- Coordinate logistics for raw material intake and product dispatch.
2. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to food safety and quality assurance protocols.
- Partner with the QA team to maintain consistent product quality throughout the processing chain.
- Ensure compliance with international regulations and export standards (e.g. HACCP ISO 22000 IFS).
- Oversee food safety audits and certification processes.
- Implement traceability systems and ensure proper documentation of processes.
3. Team Leadership & Workforce Development
- Lead train and motivate a high-performing workforce to meet production and quality goals.
- Develop and implement training programs focused on technical skills and safety compliance.
- Manage workforce planning including scheduling performance evaluation and employee development.
- Foster a safe positive and performance-driven workplace culture.
4. Resource Management & Cost Control
- Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across operations.
- Optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives within the processing facility.
5. Strategic Input
- Provide insights into processing capabilities to support company growth and expansion strategies.
- Recommend investments in new technologies and processing improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Food Science Marine Biology Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in seafood and fisheries processing management.
- Must have experience in processing demersal & pelagic fisheries (e.g. Tuna).
- Strong track record with international quality certifications and export requirements (HACCP ISO 22000 IFS).
- Deep knowledge of seafood processing methods (filleting freezing value-added processing).
- Proficiency in food safety management systems and quality control standards.
- Hands-on knowledge of seafood processing equipment cold chain management and preservation techniques.
- Familiarity with production planning and inventory management systems.
- Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing diverse and large teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making under pressure.
- Effective communication skills in English (oral and written).
