Job Duties:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of San Diego seeks an Assistant Professor in San Diego CA to teach core curriculum all levels of the mechanical engineering
program including first-year engineering senior capstone and hands-on laboratory sequences. Develop and deliver course materials curricula and syllabi in mechanical engineering and structural mechanics as well as evaluate and revise curricula course content and course materials and methods of instruction. Develop an active research program as a faculty scholar working in the field of composite materials and conduct research to better understand the failure of composite structures used in engineering applications. Specific areas of research interest include but are not limited to manufacturing of fiber-reinforced polymeric composites; computational modeling of manufacturing defects; progressive failure analysis of composite materials; sustainability of composites; and experimental testing of composite materials. Involve undergraduate students in research disseminate research findings and publish peer-reviewed papers. Advise and mentor students on their academic and vocational curricula and on career issues. Collaborate with colleagues to develop teaching resources that enhance the undergraduate engineering education advance student research in structural mechanics and composites and fulfill service responsibilities that benefit the department and salary: $103527 - $114426/year.

PhD in Mechanical Engineering Structural Engineering or a closely related
academic field.
