Overview
Title: Youth Advocate
Classification: Non-Exempt
Salary: $45000 year
Scope of Position: To provide support and assistance to youth program participants in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement. This position requires an organized individual who can efficiently handle several responsibilities simultaneously
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Provide individualized basic skills assessment and identify employment goals based on career interest ability and personal development considerations
- Develop Individual Services Strategy in conjunction with youth
- Assist youth in accomplishing the goals of the Individual Service Strategy
- Build one-on-one working relationships with youth to assist in mitigating challenges to obtaining and retaining employment
- Facilitate educational activities in individual and group settings to remediate basic skills and increase functional educational levels
- Coordinate onsite and offsite career awareness field trips with employers and educational facilities
- Provide comprehensive case management and follow-up to ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract
- Provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies as needed
- Establish detailed documentation of all client records to maintain organized database and generate all project reports as needed
- Provide regular updates to Youth Program Lead
- Other opportunities as available
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business education training human resources or related area is preferred
- Experience with people with developmental disabilities preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively as a team
- Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent follow-through when corresponding with partners staff and customers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Drivers License is required
