The Administrative Assistant III of Comal County Texas AgriLife Extension Service Office falls under the direct supervision of the Extension Agent. Responsibilities include maintaining a business atmosphere that creates a feeling of goodwill to the public through courteous treatment and efficient service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties include:
- Receptionist public relations opens office on time and remains on duty throughout office hours.
- Directs all incoming and outgoing mail to appropriate areas.
- Answers incoming telephone calls and directs the calls to appropriate agent.
- Composes letters memoranda reports and other materials.
- Maintains office records and files.
- Assists support organizations with reports and expense accounts.
- Maintains email and mailing lists for newsletters and correspondence.
- Inventories and orders supplies and publications.
- Works and manages maintenance of office machines.
- Works with special programs.
- Research and maintains Comal County Texas AgriLife Extension Service web site and social media.
- Proficient in Microsoft Ofice Suite.
- Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Mandatory Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Proficient in typing Microsoft Office Suite and operating the below listed tools and equipment. Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and county employees; ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information; ability to understand and follow instructions.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Requires frequent use of personal computer including Microsoft Office fax machine and extensive software skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read write and understand the English language.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
