The City of Fort Worth Fire Department is seeking to hire a Management Analyst I for the Budget Unit within Administration Services. This position assists with the Fire Departments General Fund revenue and expenditure in excess of $300 million. Additionally the position assists with the budgetary aspect of the Fire Departments capital projects complies data for special projects donations and deployments performs highly technical and complex analytical financial research analysis of past and present financial operations trend analysis and helps facilitate department forecasting and budget development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration Finance Business Administration or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with municipal budgeting principles
  • Experience in the analysis of processes procedures operations systems or methods within budget/financial management
  • Experience with analytical research and preparing analytical reports
  • Experience with ERP Financials
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Outlook Word)
  • Experience with managing staff

The Management Analyst I job responsibilities include:

  • Analyze past and present financial operations expenditure trends and revenue for budget oversight and development; monitor departmental expenditures to ensure compliance; work with department units to resolve budget concerns; initiate budget adjustments and journal entries to resolve budget issues.
  • Participate in a wide variety of analytical research and special projects fire donations funds suburban dispatching special event invoicing and other projects as assigned.
  • Supervises one full-time staff; develop work plan and monitor workflow; review and approve staff work product; conduct performance appraisals; troubleshoots issues related to revenue.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment positions in this class typically require touching talking hearing seeing grasping standing stooping kneeling crouching reaching walking and repetitive motions.

Light Work Depending on assignment positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated Light Work.
