STV is looking for a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our highly skilled Civil/Highway Design Team in Chicago. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team learn and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months.
Responsibilities
Utilize Microstation Geopak OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD to assist in designing roadway improvements including geometrics drainage utilities traffic and other associated elements
Support development of construction documents including drawings and specifications
Assist in developing technical design reports calculations and memos
Perform research in support of developing design solutions
Periodically perform field inspection
Utilize Microsoft Office products (Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint) to assist with design calculations memorandums forms communication and presentations
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.
Preferred experience in architecture/engineering/construction management industry
An engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred but not required.
A basic understanding of civil transportation engineering fundamentals.
Familiarity with civil design drafting software
A strong desire to work with and help clients public stakeholders and fellow team members.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A desire to work on large multidisciplinary transportation projects with fast-paced schedules which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
Compensation Range:
$40874.00 - $54498.00
