Job Summary:
The Ski Patrol Training Supervisor is responsible for designing implementing and managing training programs for ski patrol personnel. This role ensures that all patrol members are proficient in emergency medical care rescue operations and effective communication. The supervisor also evaluates training effectiveness and maintains high standards for safety and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Program Development:
- Develop and update comprehensive training programs for new and existing ski patrol members.
- Design and implement training modules on topics such as emergency medical procedures avalanche safety rescue techniques and customer service.
- Training Delivery:
- Conduct training sessions workshops and simulations for ski patrol staff.
- Coordinate with external experts and instructors as needed to enhance training offerings.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess the proficiency and performance of ski patrol members through evaluations drills and practical tests.
- Provide feedback and support to individuals to improve their skills and performance.
- Compliance and Certification:
- Ensure that all training programs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the certification process for ski patrol members ensuring they maintain necessary qualifications and credentials.
- Team Leadership and Support:
- Mentor and support ski patrol trainers and staff in their professional development.
- Foster a positive and collaborative training environment.
- Safety and Risk Management:
- Monitor and assess on-the-job performance to ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Address any issues or incidents related to safety and training.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of training activities certifications and performance evaluations.
- Prepare and present reports on training progress and areas for improvement.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry best practices emerging trends and new technologies related to ski patrol training.
Recommend and implement improvements to training programs
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a related field (e.g. emergency management sports science) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Extensive experience as a ski patroller including experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven experience in training or instructional roles preferably within a ski patrol or emergency response context.
- Certifications:
- Current certifications in OEC CPR EMT or equivalent.
- Additional certifications such as Avalanche Safety Level 1 or 2 and professional rescue certifications are advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ski patrol operations safety procedures and emergency response.
- Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively assess training needs and develop appropriate training solutions.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including outdoor conditions and high-altitude settings.
- Ability to perform physically strenuous tasks related to ski patrol duties.
