Description

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a full-time clinical MRI Physicist to join its newly established Medical Physics Division. Under the direction of a Chief of Medical Physics the division offers a collaborative framework that supports team integration interdisciplinary partnerships professional growth and meaningful contributions to the advancement of medical physics within a dynamic academic health system.

The Department operates over 35 MRI systems across the metro Atlanta area. The ideal candidate will work within a collaborative physics team to help manage clinical protocols and regulatory compliance while fostering MR education innovation and best practices in quality and safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide on-call technical and application support for MRI sites including Emory Healthcare and Grady Health System.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to ensure effective MRI protocol implementation operational workflow safety education and high-quality patient care.
  • Install maintain and update standardized MR protocols and sequences; oversee image quality; troubleshoot artifacts; and improve operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate ongoing TJC and ACR compliance through annual system surveys image quality review and technologists weekly QA/QC program oversight
  • Partner with administrative and physician leaders to develop and implement system-wide quality and safety policies and procedures. Serve as an MRI safety expert resource for technologists and radiologists.
  • Interface with MRI system vendors to document downtime guide effective applications training and explore collaborative project opportunities.
  • Advise Department about new system technology upgrades purchases and siting.
  • Deliver MR physics education training and mentorship to imaging physics and medical residents; develop educational resources and sessions for technologists and radiologists.
  • Pursue personal research interests through collaboration with other scientists and staff including in-house quality improvement projects; partake in regional and national committees and conferences; educational endeavors within the department as well as professional development activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in medical physics or related physical sciences or engineering discipline.
  • Experience and knowledge of MRI physics principles including clinical applications safety and compliance testing
  • Experience with MRI technology and system operation for GE and Siemens including protocol and sequence optimization
  • Strong communication and time management skills; motivated flexible and collaborative.
  • Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP)
  • Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
