Smith Industries is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys the administrative side of HR from payroll and benefits administration to compliance and recordkeeping while also being a trusted resource for employees and managers. The HR Generalist will play a key role in keeping our HR operations running smoothly and ensuring a positive employee experience across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage onboarding and offboarding including new hire documentation orientation and benefits enrollment.
- Support recruitment efforts with job postings scheduling and pre-employment checks.
- Administer benefits programs and assist with open enrollment activities.
- Prepare and process payroll ensuring accurate PTO tracking deductions and reporting.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state requirements including I-9 documentation and recordkeeping.
- Support performance reviews employee relations and disciplinary processes.
- Conduct HRIS data audits and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain organizational charts and HR records in both digital and physical formats.
- Provide general HR support and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- 3-5 years of experience in HR administration payroll or benefits coordination preferred.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems payroll platforms and Microsoft Office (Excel Word).
- Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail.
