Job Duties

In this role you will serve as a recognized subject matter expert for child nutrition programs in the Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs at the Virginia Department of Education. This position will primarily monitor and review the procurement practices of sponsors participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). This position will also support procurement activities for all other federal nutrition programs administered by the VDOE -SCNP including the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The subject matter expert will assist with analyzing the Buy American Provision and accommodation forms. Duties include collecting analyzing and evaluating program data preparing reports processing applications initiating and planning trainings and workshops monitoring and reviewing Food Service Management Company (FSMC) contracts; and performing administrative office duties.

Minimum Qualifications

- Considerable knowledge of procurement standards for federal programs and/or grants.
- Knowledge of federal cost principles for the administrative management of child nutrition programs and grants.
- Ability to analyze synthesize and evaluate a variety of information and data.
- Ability to organize evaluate and present information effectively.
- Ability to interpret laws rules and regulations relay the information in lay terms.
- Ability to learn and utilize a variety of technology and software.
- Ability to collect and interpret information apply criteria and make recommendations.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to maintain favorable public relations.
- Ability to organize evaluate and present information effectively both orally and in writing.

Additional Considerations

- Experience administering child nutrition programs at the local state or federal level is highly desired.
- Experience researching collecting organizing and managing data is desired.
- Skills in report writing and delivering technical assistance and training school divisions is highly desired.
- Experience in grant management fiscal and procurement processes.
- Experience working with state and/or federal entities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Smartsheet Virtual Meeting Platforms
