Position Summary
The Parking Ambassador ensures a positive parking experience for students faculty staff and visitors by providing excellent customer service enforcing parking regulations and assisting with parking operations. This highly visible role requires professionalism sound judgment and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with directions payment systems (e.g. ParkMobile) and general parking information.
- Patrol lots and garages to monitor compliance issue citations and facilitate towing when necessary.
- Direct traffic and customers to available parking during peak times; update signage when lots are full.
- Report facility issues such as damaged signs potholes or equipment malfunctions.
- Issue citations or warnings for violations in accordance with local ordinances and internal policies.
- Prepare daily reports and maintain violation/enforcement logs.
- Engage customers and tenants in a friendly helpful and professional manner.
- Notify security of suspicious behavior or safety concerns.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance and act as a representative of the organization.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of parking rules regulations and enforcement procedures.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable using radios ticketing equipment and enforcement tools.
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and patrol on foot throughout shifts.
Qualifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record may be required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
- Prior experience in customer service public safety or parking operations preferred.
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable using mobile technology and handheld devices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or confrontational situations.
- Ability to handle difficult customer interactions with patience and professionalism.
- Flexible availability including evenings weekends and holidays.
- Outgoing approachable and proactive attitudeambassadors are expected to actively engage customers not just observe.
