Location: Laurel MD 20723
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education and behavioral programs for each assigned student in consultation with other relevant staff and professionals.
- Develop Individualized Education Plans for students.
- Prepare quarterly report cards mid-quarter reports and IEP progress report narratives.
- Maintain communication with students parents/guardians relevant staff and outside professionals.
- Manage classroom budget and report expenditures to supervisor.
- Evaluate students current levels of academic and behavioral functioning and make necessary program adjustments.
- Select appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on the curriculum to implement IEP goals and objectives.
- Organize classroom furniture and equipment to foster a positive learning environment.
- Supervise students throughout the day to ensure safety including bus and playground duty.
- Implement individual and group behavior management programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree.
- Minimum qualifications for a Provisional Certificate in special education at the appropriate level or content area.
- Experience in special education or a related field is preferred.
