Job Summary

Job Title: Director of Groups and Missions

Job Classification: Full-Time Exempt

Reports to: Executive Pastor

Job Description: The Director of Groups and Missions is responsible for leading and overseeing the spiritual formation of adults through healthy small groups and to mobilize the church to engage in local and global outreach helping people take next steps with Jesus both inside and outside the church.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Groups Ministry

Provide vision structure and oversight to all adult small groups
Recruit train and support group leaders and coaches
Develop seasonal group launches and on-ramps for new participants
Collaborate with the teaching team to align group content with the churchs overall initiatives
Maintain accurate group rosters and metrics to measure health and growth
Equip groups to be disciple-making communities that serve and multiply

Local Outreach

Build and maintain partnerships with local schools nonprofits and ministries
Assist with mobilizing volunteers for Serve Day seasonal drives and ongoing local impact opportunities
Create and manage systems for benevolence requests and community care
Represent Journey in the local community as a point of connection and service

Global Missions

Cultivate partnerships with global missionaries and mission organizations
Plan promote and lead short-term mission trips in alignment with Journeys vision
Oversee care communication and financial support of global mission partners
Educate and engage the congregation in the importance of global outreach

Spiritual Criteria:

Personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
A life committed to ongoing spiritual formation
A model of integrity and spiritual leadership consistent with Journeys values
Active member of Journey Christian Church

Qualifications & Experience:

A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Proven leadership experience in small group ministry and outreach
Ability to recruit develop and lead teams of volunteers
Cross-cultural awareness and a heart for both local and global missions
Agreement with Journey Christian Churchs mission values and statement of faith
