The Assistant Manager of Fleet Services is a position where you can contribute to critical airport functions while working in a collaborative inclusive and service-driven environment. Under the general direction of a Field Maintenance Operations Manager this position oversees and directs the daily duties for the fleet department at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. Assistant Managers direct and supervise skilled mechanical work on automotive equipment including but not limited to trucks snowplows sanders sweepers mowers police vehicles airport rescue and firefighting (ARFF) equipment and miscellaneous airport equipment. Assistant Managers supervise and direct the work of assigned staff assign duties and hours of work and delegate responsibilities to subordinates.
Assistant Managers are responsible for the safety of employees and equipment in the performance of all duties. Assistant Managers perform inspections and prepare required reports. Assistant Managers must be familiar with all phases of mechanical work performed on MAC vehicles. Assistant Managers supervise the maintenance and overhaul of diesel and gasoline engines chassis units electrical ignition fuel exhaust cooling lubricating and hydraulic systems.
Assistant Managers assist the Field Maintenance Operations Managers in the performance of all designated job functions and in the absence of the manager may assume full responsibility for completion of tasks. Assistant Managers collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet customer needs and uphold MACs Purpose and Values. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Work Schedule
Assistant Manager positions typically work in alignment with the day shift generally 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or with the night shift generally 10:00 pm - 6:30 am. Shifts are bid twice per year based on seniority. Assistant Managers are subject to call-in in the event of any emergency condition including snow and ice control operations.

RELATIONSHIPS
Supervisory Reports to the assigned Field Maintenance Operations Manager. Has direct supervisory responsibility for assigned mechanics equipment service workers parts room technicians machinist/welders and occasional field maintenance employees.
Organizational Works frequently with Field Maintenance and Fleet staff Integrated Operations Landside Operations Public Safety and otherMAC departments submitting automotive or maintenance equipment for servicing. On occasion work with MAC managers and supervisors on operational needs.
