Position Summary:
Lindy Farms is a family-owned premier Standardbred and Thoroughbred breeding and training facility dedicated to producing elite racehorses from conception to competition. We are seeking an Equine Veterinary with a primary focus on reproductive medicine and neonatal care. This position is also responsible for supporting the training of horses. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative high-performance environment that values veterinary excellence innovation and horse welfare.
Primary Responsibilities:
Reproductive Medicine (Primary Focus)
- Perform ultrasound monitoring of broodmares for follicular development ovulation timing and early pregnancy diagnosis.
- Manage artificial insemination (AI) embryo transfer and fertility evaluations.
- Oversee all aspects of prenatal care including nutrition vaccination schedules and infectious disease monitoring.
- Provide on-call foaling support during the breeding season including emergency obstetrical intervention.
- Deliver neonatal intensive care including management of dummy foals sepsis angular limb deformities and failure of passive transfer.
- Maintain thorough reproductive records.
Preventive Care and General Medicine:
- Implement comprehensive vaccination schedules and deworming programs for all horse ages
- Provide advice on nutrition exercise and other preventative measures
- Diagnose common internal medicine conditions in foals yearlings and adult horses
- Maintain up-to-date medical records.
Biosecurity and Compliance
- Implement and monitor biosecurity protocols
- Ensure compliance with racing regulations veterinary laws and medication rules
Performance and Sports Medicine (Secondary Focus)
- Collaborate with trainers and farriers to optimize health soundness and peak performance.
- Utilize diagnostic imaging tools (digital radiography ultrasound endoscopy).
- Day and overnight trips to other farms and training when necessary
- Maintain reasonable regular and punctual attendance consistent with Company policies the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other federal state and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties as required based on business needs.
Your Skills:
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Horse handling and nursing skills
- Physical ability and stamina to handle large animals.
- Multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies
Desirable Requirements:
- DMV/VMD from an accredited institution
- Veterinary license to practice in Connecticut (CT) or Massachusetts (Mass) or eligibility for licensure
- Residency training and/or board certification in Theriogenology preferred not required
- 1-2 years in equine practice preferably with exposure to a breeding farm
- Experience in embryo transfer preferred not required
- Proficiency in reproductive ultrasonography neonatal care and standard equine diagnostics
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Have a good attitude and participate as a member of the team.
- Able to work a flexible schedule including nights weekends and holidays.
