Mō te tūnga About the role

Based at the RNZPC and reporting directly to the Manager Learning Solutions this role is critical in supporting enabling and developing our trainers and instructors to deliver world-class training and education. You will also support and enable our learners through training and provision of study skills support.

The RNZPC develops designs and delivers training for our people (both constabulary and police employees) at our campus inPorirua in Tamaki Makaurau and across the New Zealand. Our work ranges from practical scenario-based training to classroom based online learning and covers a broad range of subject matter. This includes Initial Training for Police recruits and a range of advanced courses and professional development offerings.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the professional development programme for trainers and instructors at RNZPC and across Police
  • Develop enhance and deliver train the trainer workshops and courses for our trainers.
  • Ability to provide study skills support and uplift for our Recruits and trainees.
  • Support a community of practice for excellent teaching and training.
  • Mentor monitor and develop new staff to deliver high quality training.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and excellence in training delivery.
  • Collaborate across the RNZPC towards our goal of world-class police education and training.

Whilst we are looking for skills knowledge and experience relevant to the role we also place high importance on your state of mind the alignment of your values with ours your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams and the way that you lead yourself or others.

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area such as education or psychology or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in the theory and practice of adult learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering training in a justice or government sector or technical training role.
  • Experience in leading and delivering train the trainer courses and/ or experience in bicultural education frameworks and practice are desirable.
  • Experience in study skill uplift for adult learners.
  • Ability to administer and report on data analytics.
  • Ability to develop and apply training design methodologies.

  • Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for (Constabulary only).
  • For both Constabulary & Police Employees:
    • Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level at a future date or
    • Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.

Utu ā-tau Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110425 and $117014 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
