Description
This Specialist Training Program funded position in Public Health Medicine is located in Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services. Winnunga is the only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in the Canberra region and provides comprehensive multidisciplinary primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Winnunga also has an important role in advocacy and representation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT and nationally. The Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service model embodies Aboriginal health in Aboriginal hands and is at the core of the service.
The Public Health Medical Registrar will support and enhance Winnungas public health capacity as part of the Public Health Medical Team. The Registrar will advise on and implement public health approaches in primary health care disease prevention health promotion social determinants of health complex and chronic disease management quality improvement policy development clinical health information systems data analysis evaluation and research.
The work will provide the Public Health Medical Registrar with multiple opportunities to meet AFPHM training requirements and to contribute to improving the health of First Nations people in a culturally safe setting.
Qualifications
Eligibility for the Advanced Training program of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
Essential pre-requisites:
A Master of Public Health or equivalent Master-level qualification in Public Health
Registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
