Electrical Engineer (Power Systems Utility)
Location: 200 Canal St New Smyrna Beach FL 32168
Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (Full-time Exempt)
Base Pay: $72904 $118633 per year (DOE)
Reports to: Engineering Manager

What Youll Do (Day-to-Day Impact)
Lead utility electrical projects across generation transmission distribution and plant systems (CIP/Capital Improvement Program).
Design maintain and commission protection schemes: relays breakers fuses and other protective devices for T&D and generation.
Perform short-circuit load-flow and relay coordination studies; determine relay settings and protection curves.
Prepare construction drawings/specifications; review shop drawings; drive pre-con inspections and close-out.
Troubleshoot and optimize panels control schemes SCADA/I&C for electric water reuse and pollution control facilities.
Plan and design new NSBU electric facilities to support system growth and new residential/commercial service.
Respond to customer/operations requests (e.g. street lighting solar/DER interconnections program support).
Act as an NSBU representative with regulators trade groups and partner utilities; provide guidance to internal technical staff.
Tools & Technologies Youll Use
Power system modeling: Milsoft (e.g. WindMil) or equivalent
CAD/GIS: AutoCAD; familiarity with GIS tools
Protection & controls: protective relays/schemes (SEL/GE/ABB or similar) breakers fuses
Codes/standards (preferred): NESC NEC NFPA 70E utility protection standards; familiarity with SCADA/PLC/HMI helpful
What You Bring (Qualifications)
Minimum for Engineer level
BS in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field)
5 years of relevant utility/power systems experience
Strong background in fault studies load flow and relay settings
Clear concise communication with operators contractors and customers
Valid Florida Class E Drivers License (or ability to obtain)
Preferred
EIT/FE (for Associate/Engineer); PE (for Senior/Principal)
Experience with distribution planning substation design SCADA/I&C and water/wastewater electrical systems
Knowledge of DER/solar interconnections reliability/hardening and arc-flash & coordination studies
Career Levels & Growth Path
Associate Engineer AS required; BS preferred; EIT preferred
Engineer BS required; 5 years; PE preferred
Senior Engineer BS required; 7 years; PE required
Principal Engineer BS required; 10 years; PE required
