  • TITLE: Assistant Principal

    CERTIFICATIONS: PK-12 Principal and Supervisor of CTE (or willing to obtain)

    REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Administrative Director

    SUPERVISES: Teaching staff & paraprofessionals

    JOB GOAL: To perform the functions of this position in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services for all students.

    EXPERIENCE: Dean of Students or Assistant Principal experience preferred.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assist the administrative team in recruiting interviewing and assigning allfaculty and staff.
    2. Make classroom visits in all areas to enhance the educational process. Thisincludes both formal teacher observations and walkthroughs.
    3. Supervise the activities of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) team.
    4. Attend and participate in all meetings of the Joint Operating Committee.
    5. Responsible for administering a program of student conduct and student discipline.
    6. Assist the principal in the processing of misconduct reports.
    7. Assisting with curriculum implementation monitoring instructional practices and ensuring alignment with standards.
    8. Work directly with the building principal to assist in developing successfulinstructional strategies.
    9. Helps to organize and lead professional development sessions based on staff needs and school goals.
    10. Serve as an administrative team member that participates in developing and implementing orientation recruitment and selection of prospective enrollees. Work closely with home school district counselors and others to operate this process.
    11. Responsible for collecting reviewing and filing incoming student records.
    12. Responsible for organizing setting up and administering Open House activitiesheld annually during Career & Technical Week in February.
    13. Analyzing student performance data to identify trends and inform instructional improvements.
    14. Provides substitute periodic coverage as needed.
    15. Supervise all standardized testing and recording procedures. Maintain student cumulative records as per theapproved plan. This includes but is not limited to Keystone Testing NOCTI pre-and post-testing annual benchmark testing and other diagnostic testing initiatives.
    16. Oversight of paraprofessional and tutorial staff. This position with the building principal and student services director provides leadership and direction for a building-wide tutorial program.
    17. Responsible for maintaining and purging student cumulative recordsandmaintaining student confidentiality as outlined in state regulations.
    18. Oversee the sending of student failure letters to parents.
    19. Organize regular safety drills and prepare staff and students for potential emergencies.
    20. Works with student services counselors and other support staff to address students social emotional and academic needs.
    21. Administer and manage the Summer School program. Responsible for registering all students and assisting with individual scheduling of new students.
    22. Supervise the development of information publications including course descriptionbooklets brochures videos etc.
    23. Organize and facilitate freshman orientation.
    24. Assist with coordinating graduation
    25. Supervises attendance and truancy meetings.
    26. Assists with credit recovery.
    27. Attends IEP meetings as necessary.
    28. Manages student information system (SIS) calendar scheduling and reports.
    29. Perform other duties as assigned.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary as determined by the Joint Operating Committee and commensurate with experience.

    EVALUATION: Performance isto be evaluated by the Principal and/or Administrative Director.
