You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailUnder the general supervision of the Director of Veterans Services this position will provide comprehensive advising that is equitable inclusive and culturally sensitive and that enhances the quality of campus life and supports the academic success of student veterans servicemembers and eligible dependents. This position will also serve as School Certifying Official for certification of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) and California Department of Veterans Affairs (CDVA) education and vocational rehabilitation benefits for eligible students.
Furthermore the incumbent provides services that are equitable inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

The ideal candidate for this role demonstrates a fully functional knowledge of standard office procedures and practices along with a strong command of university systems such as CMS and Enrollment Manager to manage student academic and veteran education benefits information. They possess a thorough understanding of CSULB academic requirements policies and procedures as well as U.S. and California Departments of Veterans Affairs educational benefits. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential enabling the candidate to effectively engage with diverse audiences in one-on-one group and public presentation settings. The candidate should thrive in a multicultural university environment exercising sound time management and organizational skills to handle complex evolving information efficiently. They must be adept at analyzing problems and generating appropriate solutions while demonstrating diplomacy and clarity in interactions with students staff and management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to manage multiple projects systematically are also key attributes of the ideal candidate.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.
Equivalent to a bachelors degree in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.
Experience working with military veterans and service member is strongly desired.

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5083 - $6156 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5083 - $7228 per month.
1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.
This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
