To advance this vision the foundation has created a new role for a Director of Grants Administration to design and lead a modernized grants management function. As part of the strategic plan this position represents a critical investment in the organizations operations and demonstrates leaderships commitment to elevating grants administration through new systems and strengthened processes.
By harnessing the Endowments resources influence and community standing these strategies position the foundation to lead with vision and purpose in the pursuit of greater impact.
This highly visible role directs the full operational lifecycle of grantmaking ensuring efficient equitable and compliant practices that advance the foundations mission. The Director partners closely with program evaluation and finance teams to streamline processes optimize technology strengthen compliance and elevate the grantee experience.
Serving as a strategic partner to the foundations executive leadership team the Director plays a central role in advancing organizational priorities fostering a culture of feedback and collaboration and building trust with grantees and partners. This includes embedding learning into the foundations culture and driving innovation in grantmaking practices.
Reporting to the VP Finance & Administration the Director is part of the Finance & Administration team and supervises grants administration management and staff setting the standard for operational excellence across the foundation.

Strategic Leadership in Grantmaking Operations
The Director will lead and shape the foundations grantmaking operations ensuring practices are strategically aligned with organizational and programmatic priorities. The role drives innovation by incorporating best practices and emerging trends in philanthropy elevating the impact and efficiency of the organizations grantmaking. Additionally the Director will oversee the grants management team building and refining systems processes policies training and reporting to set a standard of operational excellence. As the expert in and champion of the foundations grantmaking system the Director ensures consistent adoption and optimization across staff to create a seamless compliant and highly effective grantmaking process that strengthens the grantee experience and advances the foundations mission.
Grants Administration & Technology
The Director will bring deep expertise in the full spectrum of grantmaking operations combining strategic oversight with meticulous attention to detail. The Director designs implements and continuously refines grantmaking processes policies and workflows to ensure transparency efficiency and compliance with internal standards and IRS regulations. As the technical expert on the foundations grantmaking system (GMS) the Director maintains a comprehensive understanding of system architecture data flows integration points and interdependencies translating complex structures into actionable partnership with the Learning Evaluation and Research (LER) team the Director develops processes and systems to capture organize and leverage grants data for organizational decision-making. Additionally the Director develops and implements facilitate programs to train and onboard staff in grantmaking compliance internal processes procedures and technology in coordination with the People & Culture team.
Financial Management and Compliance
With a keen eye and deep expertise the Director will ensure financial integrity and compliance across all grants and program-related investments. The Director will support all programmatic due diligence activities and will oversee all aspects of grant and program-related investment financial administration including budget tracking approvals disbursements and future year commitments. The Director also manages grants data and analytics for operational and strategic decision-making and maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and IRS this capacity the Director partners with the VP of Finance & Administration and external counsel as needed to support informed compliant and effective grantmaking.
Grantseeker Engagement and Experience
With the user experience in mind the Director will foster a positive equitable and transparent experience for grantseekers grantees and program staff. By ensuring clear communication and accessible support throughout the grantmaking process the Director will incorporate feedback to continuously improve both the grantee experience and internal workflows reinforcing a culture of responsiveness and operational excellence. A consistent focus of this role will be developing resources and tools to streamline processes reduce administrative burdens and enhance usability for all stakeholders. Additionally the Director will bring experience working across differences demonstrating the ability to leverage diverse perspectives to strengthen workplace practices enhance collaboration and ensure effective use of systems and processes.
Organizational Leadership & Effectiveness
The Director safeguards and elevates the foundations history culture and reputation while inspiring and mentoring staff to grow learn and excel. As the technical authority on the foundations grantmaking system the Director translates complex system architecture and data flows into actionable partnership with Learning Evaluation and Research (LER) the Director designs and implements processes that capture organize and unlock grants data to drive strategic decision-making enhance program effectiveness and strengthen the foundations impact. The Director drives both operational excellence and organizational impact staying at the forefront of industry developments and leveraging grantmaking data systems through active engagement with peers affinity groups and external boards or committees.

Hold a Bachelors degree with 10 years of experience ideally in a grantmaking institution or nonprofit with five years or more of management experience.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $160000 to $180000.
The compensation package includes robust insurance benefits a generous retirement plan contribution and match PTO among other benefits.
