Job Description
Position Title: Operating Room (OR) Technician
Location: Cooperstown NY 13326
Job Type: Contract Local or Travel
Shift: Day Shift
Pay Range: $45 $47/hour ($1700 $1900 weekly)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room (OR) Technician to join a dynamic surgical team. The OR Tech will work under the supervision of the OR Manager/Surgery Center Manager and play a vital role in supporting safe efficient surgical procedures. This position requires close collaboration with surgeons nurses anesthesiologists and other perioperative staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Function as the scrub technician during surgical procedures.
Prepare handle and maintain surgical instruments equipment and sterile fields.
Assist with gowning and gloving of surgical team members.
Anticipate surgeon and team needs providing instruments and materials promptly.
Handle medications specimens and surgical media accurately and safely.
Maintain strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols.
Assist with setup turnover and breakdown of operating rooms.
Ensure accountability and proper care of instruments and trays.
Support workflow efficiency and patient safety within the OR.
Contribute to quality improvement and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of recent OR Tech experience (hospital setting preferred).
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Certification (CST) from NBSTSA or equivalent strongly preferred.
Current BLS certification required.
Proficiency in surgical instruments procedures and sterile techniques.
Strong communication teamwork and attention to detail.
Flexibility to adapt to a variety of surgical cases and schedules.
