Job Description

Cybersecurity Engineer III Top Secret Clearance Charleston SC

We are currently seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer III to support operations in Charleston SC. This is a full-time CONUS position requiring an active DoD Top Secret clearance.

What Youll Do
As a Cybersecurity Engineer you will play a critical role in preparing implementing and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies including Assessment & Authorization processes such as RMF and ATO frameworks that serve U.S. government missions at the Cambridge corporate office. You will:
  • Security Measures Planning & Implementation
    • Design and deploy security solutions including firewalls IDS/IPS encryption technologies and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
    • Implement and manage endpoint network and identity security tools to fortify defenses.
  • Continuous Monitoring & Incident Response
    • Monitor systems using SIEM and related tools to detect malicious activity and respond swiftly to incidents.
    • Lead investigations contain threats report findings and restore systems following security breaches.
  • Vulnerability Assessment & Risk Mitigation
    • Conduct regular vulnerability scans penetration tests and risk assessments.
    • Propose and implement remediation strategies to address identified weaknesses.
  • Policy Development & Regulatory Compliance
    • Develop document and enforce security policies and procedures aligned with frameworks such as NIST 80053 GDPR HIPAA and ISO 27001.
    • Support assessments audits and compliance reviews.
  • Security Architecture & Collaboration
    • Work with IT and development teams to embed secure design principles and practices into systems and applications.
    • Conduct architectural and threat modeling reviews.
  • Security Testing & Tool Management
    • Develop and execute test scripts to validate security controls and configurations.
    • Ensure security tools are functional compliant and properly configured.
  • Threat Intelligence & Ongoing Learning
    • Stay current with threat trends emerging vulnerabilities and advanced defensive technologies.
    • Incorporate AI and machine learning where appropriate to strengthen threat detection and response capabilities.
  • Training & Awareness
    • Educate staff on cybersecurity best practices phishing awareness and policy compliance.
    • Foster a culture of security mindfulness throughout the organization.
What Youll Bring
Required Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    • MA/MS 10 years of relevant experience and
    • 5 years of hands-on experience supporting Navy organization as an NAO Liaison to validate IT/OT systems
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Experience preparing implementing and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policy to include Assessment and Authorization requirements.
    • Experience may include plan implement upgrade and/or monitor cybersecurity measures to improve cyber defense and maintain a cyber-resilient network; assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities for risks and propose and implement remediation actions or risk mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and electronic infrastructure; and respond to computer security breaches to re-establish protections and make required reports.

    • Experience includes leading and mentoring validators and RMF experts with processing A&A and implementing RMF for IT and OT systems.
    • Strong knowledge of evaluating RMF packages consulting Echelon III Package Submitting Officer (PSO) preparing command priorities for submission to NAO Team managing MFR and HRE processes developing and uploading artifacts to eMASS and providing NAO guidance.
  • Certifications:
    • Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level I (position-based) per DoD 8570.1M
    • IAT III
  • Must have a current and active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Proficient with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies
Work EnvironmentOffice setting:
  • Primarily an office-based role in Charleston SC.
  • Standard desk/computer work with flexibility for walking and movement on site
  • Must be able to work in an office environment sitting at a desk looking at a computer for most of the workday.
  • Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting walking standing etc.
  • May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
