Job Description
The Wayne County Land Bank is seeking a highly capable and driven attorney to serve as its Legal Advisor. The Legal Advisor will oversee the Land Banks core legal programs; provide legal advice and opinions on areas of property law and government administration; promote and implement strategic policy initiatives; ensure compliance with the Land Banks regulatory scheme; and represent the Land Bank in litigation; among other responsibilities.
Required Tasks
- Operate Land Bank legal programs
- Draft and negotiate contractual agreements
- Work with the Executive Director on Land Bank strategy and visioning
- Work with the Operations Director on programmatic monitoring and enforcement
- Serve as the Land Banks lead litigation counsel
- Provide counsel on a range of legal issues primarily in the fields of property law and governmental law and regulation
- Ensure compliance with the Land Banks bylaws policies and statutory scheme
- Draft and implement policies and programs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Educational/Experience Requirements
- A Juris Doctor from an accredited Law School
- Licensed to practice law in Michigan
- In good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
- Three to five years prior experience in assigned practice area.
- Experience in property law real estate and governmental policy preferred
