Job Summary
Cedar Park Med is seeking a skilled and compassionate RN or LPN to provide one-on-one support for a student with complex medical and physical needs. This role includes meeting the student at home riding the bus and providing nursing care throughout the school day.
Schedule: Monday Friday 7:55 AM 3:25 PM (beginning at home pick-up and including bus transport)
Compensation: Competitive; rate based on experience and licensure (RN vs. LPN).
Key Responsibilities:
Meet the student at home and accompany during bus transportation to and from school.
Provide tracheostomy care including management of a Passy Muir Valve (PMV) for speech support.
Administer and monitor G-tube feedings.
Support the students mobility needs including safe use of wheelchair assistance with transfers and help during emergency evacuation situations.
Monitor stamina endurance and dexterity during daily activities offering assistance as needed.
Collaborate with staff to ensure safe navigation in school settings (stairs elevator classroom transitions).
Provide general nursing support for conditions including Pierre-Robin Syndrome scoliosis arthrogryposis and cleft palate.
Document care feeding schedules mobility support and any medical incidents.
Communicate with parents transportation staff and school personnel to maintain consistent and safe care.
Qualifications:
Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Experience in pediatric or student care preferred.
Proficiency in:
Tracheostomy care and airway management
Passy Muir Valve use
G-tube feeding and monitoring
Supporting students with orthopedic and mobility challenges
Strong communication and observation skills.
Ability to provide calm safe and compassionate care in both transport and school environments.
