The Assistant Athletic Trainer Per Diem is responsible for supporting the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer in the prevention evaluation treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The position provides athletic training coverage for practices games and events as assigned ensuring the health safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Essential Functions:
- Provide athletic training services for student-athletes at practices and competitions.
- Screening prevention and care of sport-related injuries and conditions.
- Provides direct athletic training services of athletic practices and contests including evening and weekend assignments as assigned.
- Deliver injury prevention evaluation management treatment and rehabilitation.
- Administer therapeutic modalities taping bracing and padding as needed.
- Provide emergency care including CPR AED and First Aid.
- Implement individualized injury prevention programs and wellness education.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical documentation of all patient encounters.
- Communicate with physicians coaches and student-athletes regarding injury status and return-to-play planning.
- Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention evaluation management and rehabilitation.
- Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customize preventative strategies and programs to each patient.
- Minimize risk of injury through awareness education and prevention strategies.
- Recommend accommodation for student-athletes with restrictions or limitations.
- Perform administrative duties and additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Travel Requirements:
- No overnight travel required.
- Day travel to competitions within an 80-mile radius of campus.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium work demand; ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent standing walking bending and assisting student-athletes in movement.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree from a CAATE-accredited program
- Current BOC certification in good standing
- Licensed in the State of Florida
- Current BLS certification
- NPI number
Preferred:
- One or more years of experience in collegiate athletics
- Familiarity with NAIA or NCAA compliance requirements
- Experience with electronic medical records systems
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Broad applied knowledge of athletic training and sports medicine practices
- Ability to think critically and make independent medical decisions
- Strong communication skills in high-pressure environments
- Attention to detail with accurate injury tracking and documentation
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to work independently
