Job Description

Description:
Constructs and repairs structures and surfaces using bricks concrete blocks and natural or man-made stones. This role involves working with materials to build walls floors arches pavements partitions sewers and other structures. Brick Masons ensure accuracy structural integrity and finish quality while working with both hand and power tools. Must be willing to become signatory to the Brick Masons Union if not already a member.


Typical Duties:

  • Lay bricks concrete blocks stone and other materials to construct or repair walls partitions arches sewers and similar structures.
  • Use trowels levels plumb bobs hammers chisels and other hand tools to construct and finish structures.
  • Measure cut and shape bricks or blocks to fit required dimensions.
  • Mix mortar or grout and spread it with a trowel.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for bricklaying by removing debris and leveling surfaces.
  • Build scaffolding or temporary structures to provide safe working conditions.
  • May use power grinders or hammer and chisel to remove rough spots or repair defective areas.
  • Follow safety procedures which may include wearing respirators eye protection and other personal protective equipment.

  • Environmental Conditions:
    • Noise dust and chemical exposure Intermittent.
    • Confined space hazards Seldom.
    • Working at heights Intermittent.
    • Operating mobile equipment/machinery/vehicles Intermittent.
