Job Summary

Smart Start Elementary School Program Positions Open (ERS)

Reports to: Site Coordinator and Principal

Dates/Times of Employment:

September 2 - June 15; 7:00am - 8:00am (1 hour/day M-F)

Recommended Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • In pursuit of or holds a valid Massachusetts Teaching License
  • SPS Teachers and Educational Assistants are encouraged to apply
  • Priority will be given to Southbridge Public Employees
  • Current authorization to work in the United States- citizenship residency or work visa
  • Instructional experience at the school site preferred
  • 100% attendance and daily on-time arrival is expected

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create project-based lessons that support and relate to character development and academic readiness
  • Engage with all students through morning meetings engaging in hands-on learning experiences and motivating students about participating in school through academic play.
  • Responsible for effective management of classroom environment using PBIS strategies
  • Plan lessons/ activities as required and/or necessary
  • Monitor students during breakfast lunch dismissal and all transition times
  • Maintain daily attendance and record-keeping
  • Communicate with families regarding student progress and success
  • Support in the recruitment process in enrolling students into the summer program
  • Implement and use instructional routines when delivering lessons to students
  • Follows universal health precautions for preventing illness and infections (including COVID19 district and program protocols)

Compensation:

$40 per hour
