The Boeing CompanyWe are seeking to hire a Mid-Level Materials and Process Engineer (Composites) to join our team in Tukwila WA. We are looking for a candidate who will provide guidance to multiple programs on adhesives and structural bonding.
The ideal candidate has experience with bonding systems chemical processing polymer chemistry engineering requirements and process control. A strong foundation in chemistry and knowledge of chemical processes is essential.
Position Responsibilities:
Defines requirements and approves tools equipment materials parts and processes used in the engineering design manufacture and/or maintenance of products.
Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools equipment materials parts and processes.
Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
Promotes standardization across business activities.
Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
Develops and qualifies new tools equipment materials parts and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate.
Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools materials parts or processes.
Implements corrective and preventive actions.
Designs develops and qualifies computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
Uses project management tools to meet cost technical and schedule requirements.
Incorporates environmental health and safety LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes (2) research design and qualification (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology) Computer Science Data Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry
3 years of experience in materials manufacturing processes failure analysis or related roles
Experience with chemical processes
Hands-on experience with mechanical testing microstructure analysis (optical microscopy SEM/EDS) and interpretation of results
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelors degree in Materials Science & Engineering Metallurgical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering
Strong understanding of material families (especially bonding systems chemical processes and polymer chemistry) and common manufacturing/joining processes
Experience writing technical specifications process documents and test plans
Proficiency with statistical tools and process capability analysis (SPC Minitab/JMP or equivalent)
Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
Excellent written and verbal communication; proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers
Proven leadership and/or teaching capability
